Mission & Vision
Mission
The Gold Star Shooting Competition is an annual event that honors the bravery and sacrifice of U.S. military members and their families. Through three competitions held each year, we pay tribute to those who have served and made the ultimate sacrifice for freedom. The Gold Star symbolizes a service member who has died in the line of duty.
Vision
The competition aims to remember fallen soldiers, support their families, and strengthen the bond among veterans and active military personnel. The event features a Sub-MOA 1 Mile and 600 Yard KYL Challenge, with a Pro Division engaging an 18-inch target at 1 mile within a five-round, three-minute par time, and an Amateur Division competing on a 600-yard KYL rack featuring progressively smaller targets from 10 inches down to 2 inches, also under a five-round, three-minute par time. Participants of all skill levels, from seasoned veterans and active-duty members to Gold Star families, are welcomed. The event emphasizes safety, fairness, and the military values of precision, patience, and discipline.
Beyond the competitive shooting, the day is filled with ceremonies and moments of reflection to honor the fallen and recognize Gold Star families' sacrifices. It also includes fundraising activities, with proceeds supporting veterans' charities and scholarships for Gold Star family members, reinforcing the community's commitment to remember and support those affected by loss.
The Veterans Day Gold Star Shooting Competition not only provides a platform for friendly competition but also serves as a poignant reminder of the cost of freedom and the importance of supporting our veterans and their families. It's a celebration of their spirit, a commitment to remember their sacrifices, and a testament to the enduring bonds of military service.
