SSG Jarred Fontenot

Staff Sergeant Jarred Seth Fontenot was a dedicated U.S. Army Infantryman who gave his life in service to his country during Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was “35, of Port Barre, La.; assigned to 2nd Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colo.; died Oct. 18 in Baghdad of wounds sustained from an improvised explosive device and small-arms fire during combat operations” (Military Times).
He is survived by his wife and four children (Sibille Funeral Homes). Family remembered that “Staff Sgt. Fontenot died doing what he loved” (Military Times).
Jarred was also known for his love of the outdoors, including hunting and fishing, and cherished spending time with his family (Sibille Funeral Homes). He lived a life of courage, service, and devotion to those he loved.
